Pathology Services’ Division of Dermatopathology offers the
combination of anatomic pathology and clinical dermatology to handle
skin specimens. Skin specimens are signed out by experienced full-time
dermatopathologists who are Board Certified in Dermatopathology
with additional certifications in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology,
Dermatology and Dermatologic Immunology, and Laboratory Immunology.
This blend of clinical and laboratory skills allows for optimal
correlation of pathologic and clinical findings.
To assist in management of difficult cases, our dermatopathologists
are available at all times for telephone consultation. Most final
reports are returned to the referring physician within 24 hours
and results may be directly telephoned upon request or if clinically
warranted. Photomicrographs are frequently included in the reports
to assist the referring physician. Clinical photographs or margins
diagrams are also included in the pathology report as appropriate.
To increase efficiency—for you and us—arrangements
for specimen pickup, courier services and return of reports are
flexible and can be customized based on the needs of the referring
physician.
