How will specimens be delivered to your lab?
Within the state of
SC your specimens will be picked up by our professional courier
service at a time convenient to your office.
Outside the state, we will supply you with FedEx packaging and
prepaid airbills for overnight delivery to our lab.
How will I get my reports?
We offer several methods of
report delivery to our clients, including courier delivery, fax,
and internet reporting through our website.
Can I be sure that the patient reports available
to me on the internet are secure and HIPAA compliant?
Yes, PPS, PC works with the latest and most secure technology
available. We also work closely with our LIS vendors to ensure
we do not compromise security. We employ the most secure site certificate
available, Verisign, to keep our results site secure.
What is your turn-around-time?
Our current turn-around-time on Pap testing is 3-4 days. Surgical
biopsies are reported within 24-36 hours from receipt in the laboratory.
Non-Gyn cytology also has a 24-36 hour turn around time.

What are your pathologists’ areas of expertise?
Our pathologists
have expertise or special interest in all areas of pathology related
to specimens that may come from a physician
office or medical facility. This includes but is not limited to
Cytology, Breast, Dermatopathology, Gastrohepatic, Ophthalmic,
Urogenital, Neuropathology, Hematopathology, GYN and Molecular
Pathology.
In which managed care plans do you participate?
Within
the state of South Carolina we participate with ALL managed care
plans, including Companion, CIGNA (all plans) and United
Healthcare. Outside of South Carolina we participate with Medicare,
Medicaid, and many PPO plans. Our Client Service Department will
answer any specific questions you may have.
What are your laboratory office hours?
Our laboratories
may be reached between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. A
client service representative can be reached
at other times.
How can I contact a pathologist if I have a question
about a specimen or report?
You can reach a pathologist by calling 800-446-8105. The pathology
secretary will direct you to the appropriate pathologist depending
on your need.
What if a patient has a question about his/her bill?
Our client service department will be glad to talk with your patient
about their bill. If there is a problem with insurance reimbursement,
we will contact the payor to resolve the problem.

Is your laboratory accredited?
All four of our laboratories are both CLIA and CAP accredited.
Copies of accreditation are available upon request.
Does your laboratory provide the supplies I need?
All
supplies necessary for the collection and transport of your patients’ specimens
to our laboratories will be supplied at no charge, as allowed by
federal regulations.
Does your lab perform the thin layer Pap test?
We have ThinPrep processors onsite for performing the thin layer
Pap testing. We also offer the conventional Pap slide test if requested.
Do you offer consultative services for a second opinion
on slides?
Yes, we do provide this service. Please contact client
services for additional information.
Do you offer slide preparation only for referring dermatologists?
We are currently offering slide prep only on a limited basis.
